A film director steps in front of the camera and gives an honest glimpse into what drives her passion for filmmaking.
As a filmmaker, I am used to hiding behind the camera and making room for talented actors to shine. Though my films are often very personal, I find that being in front of the camera takes on another level of vulnerability for me. After writing and directing a series of short films through TVM and asking so much from volunteering actors, I thought it would only be fair to put myself in a similar humbling position.
As I was editing my short film “Why Won’t You Burn,” I found footage of myself setting up a shot and noticed an opportunity to put myself in front of the camera. Despite having little to no makeup, I decided to overcome my insecurities and show my more fragile side by accompanying these shots with a voiceover about what film means to me. Though, admittedly, the footage was not originally intended for a short, “Keep The Camera Rolling” is my way of pushing myself out of my comfort zone and starting off the release of my twenty short films.
