After a couple of months apart, exes meet in a coffee shop to discuss where their relationship went wrong. Is overcoming lost trust at all possible? What does it take to mend a broken heart?
As I sat in a coffee shop finishing my term papers, I noticed a couple discussing the reasons for ending their relationship. Though the interaction was brief, I thought I would reinvent this scene into a short film, and as a result, I wrote “Hot Chocolate.” With this film, I wished to challenge myself to make a short that consisted solely of a dialogue between two individuals with little to no action. Throughout this conversation, I wanted the characters to go through a roller-coaster of emotions (from joy, to anger, to pain).
