And That's How Mum And Dad Met : Behind The Film

Parents playfully play out an unfiltered reenactment of their nightclub love story… Looks familiar?

As a McGill student participating in orientation events consisting predominantly of drinking games, getting exposed to the university hook-up culture is inevitable. Through “And That’s How Mum And Dad Met”, I wanted to poke fun at this prominent McGill hookup culture in a playful and non-condescending manner.

Rather than getting actors to play out a scene, I wanted to experiment with working primarily through suggestion. Leaning on the audience’s imagination, the love story is solely acted out by hands rather than actors. Though I enjoy keeping my shorts open to interpretation, as the title suggests, one potential and literal understanding of the scene is that of two parents explaining how they met to their "accidental” child.
